Tina Reed

Tina Reed paints in oils with the palette knife using an impasto technique to layer and texture the paint, bringing energy and movement to her work. Strong contrast and clean bright colour reflect the joy and exuberance that she finds every day in life and nature. Her style is contemporary, and she works from nature, producing landscapes, seascapes, equestrian paintings and florals. There is an impressionist element to her work, where shapes and themes are recognisable but are also echoed across the canvas to suggest more than just the immediate moment. Tina was born in London, and studied Textile Design at Leeds University, she has two adult children, and lives on Sherkin Island, West Cork with her husband Pat who runs H2O Sea Kayaking. ‘Sherkin Island is known as The Island of the Arts, and is home to many artists. It is a beautiful and very special place, and a source of great inspiration to me. Here, we live according to the weather, the sea, the tides. The tides are one thing that we can’t change. One certainty. We are surrounded by the sea, at times wild and foreboding, and at times calm and serene, where skies meet seas, and horizons stretch, endlessly full of hope and possibility! I swim in the sea, and run the lanes every day with our two dogs.’
